Do I need a drivers license - In the state of Florida, you must hold at least a Class E learner license in order to participate in the Basic RiderCourse.

What kind of motorcycles - Motorcycles used at our
Central Florida Basic Rider's Course are all 250cc. Each is in excellent riding
condition. Kawasaki, suzuki, Honda, etc. We use different motorcycles to ensure each fits the rider.
What do I wear?
- long pants
- long sleeve shirt or jacket
- full-finger gloves
- eye protection
- Over the ankle boots.
- Appropriate outerwear if it is wet and/or cold!
rain gear - Although Volusia Motorcycle Training
provides some rain gear, you may want to bring your own - check the weather.
friends or family - Yes but they may offer no instructions or interfere with the
course instruction
motorscooter - Yes - If the Motor Scooter is over 50 cc's
License requirements - As of July 1, 2008, every motorcycle rider
must complete a basic motorcycle safety course
before obtaining a motorcycle endorsement or
motorcycle-only license. The course must be one
that is approved by the
Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF).
motorcycle endorsement - Once you graduate and receive your MSF Completion Card, from
Volusia Motorcycle Training, take it to your local DMV office. (Electronic Waiver Verification may also be used). you will receive upon completion of the course and $15. They will issue you a new license with “MOTORCYCLE ALSO” printed in the lower right corner.
DO I NEED MY OWN HELMET? - no we supply helmets - but you are welcome to
bring your own DOT certified helmet. HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE
- If you are a Florida resident you must be 15 ½ and have held a car learners permit for 6 months. If you are under the age of 18, you must obtain written permission from your legal guardian to take the course.
Can I bring my own motorcycle or scooter to the rider course
- Yes, but you have to find a way to get it there, and seat height under 30", under 400
lbs, and under 500cc's (Yes, you can bring your
own motorcycle or scooter to ride during the range portion of the basic rider's
course. You do have to find a way to get it here, and it must have a seat height under 30",
weigh under 400 lbs, be insurance and under 500cc's (ANY
of the 2 criteria
). You are required to have insurance and a the scooter or
motorcycle will be inspected prior to being allowed on the range. Class Photos - Yes, at no charge. |
