A
good passenger on a motorcycle often lets traffic around
them know what the motorcycle is about to do. Skilled
passengers know that hand signals draw attention to the
motorcycle. It really doesn't matter that the drivers of
other vehicles probably have no idea what they mean. It
draws attention. Vehicles on the road today are mobile
entertainment centers, drivers are eating, drinking,
listening to music, talking on the phone, yelling at the
kids, and reading the paper, etc. Anything that gets
their attention helps you stay safe. So is it a good
idea for your motorcycle passenger to use hand signals? Of course
it is. It also helps the passenger feel like they are
part of the ride, and shares the responsibility for
safety.. Many good passengers know they are responsible
for giving hand signals, and waving at other
motorcycles.
