Welcome to Hand Signals used by RiderCoaches on the Basic Rider course Range and range rules.

Florida motorcycle training school - classes available - s classesRiderCoaches use hand signals to communicate with students and other ridercoaches on the riding course range. They will be fully explained and demonstrated prior to going to the riding portion of the Basic Rider Course.

 Range Rules - Range rules will be explined to you - listen to your Ridercoach
  • Do not practice without Rider Coach permission.
  • Always were proper protective gear when seated on the motorcycle.
  • Know the location of the engine cut-off switch and how to use it. .
  • Always keep a margin of safety, and check all around before moving out. 
  • Stop smoothly in position if you see or hear a group stop signal.
  • If you do not understand an exercise, or become too uncomfortable to ride safely, notify a Rider Coach.
  • Do not dismount the motorcycle until advised to do so by a Rider Coach.
Rider Course Range Hand Signals - Range Hand Signals will be explained to you at the range
range hand signals - Cover the clutch, keep your left four fingers over the clutch lever.Cover the clutch, keep your left four fingers over the clutch lever. The ridercoach will extent his left hand and pat his wrist with is right hand.
Range hand signal - Slow downSlow Down - Arms extended to the side, palms down - the rider coach will push his hands downward to indicate you should slow down.
range hand signals -  turn off the engineTurn off the engine - The rider coach will point his fingers to his throat and move his hand back and forth in a cutting motion (cut the engine)
range hand signals - speed upSpeed up - Arms extended to the sides, palms up - the rider coach will push his hands upward to indicate you should speed up - increase your speed.
range hand signals - make a good head turn or turn your headTurn your head - The ridercoach will turn his head to the side and put a finger to his chin, indicating you should turn your head.
range hand signals - Don't cover the front brakeDon't cover the front brake - the ridercoach will hold out his right hand (palm down) and slap his wrist with his left hand. Indicates that the rider should not cover the front brake lever.
range hand signals - return to stagingReturn to the staging area - The ridercoach will raise his hands to the forehead, closed fists and crossed arms, to indicate that riders show return to the staging area.
Pay close attention to your Ridercoach for further instructions and hand signals
